Employee Spotlight On Mary Marino

We’d like to introduce you to Mary, the seamstress at our Newfield Street, Middletown, CT location.  We hope you enjoy her story.

Mary Marino was born in Sicily, Italy. When she was young all the girls were sent to school to learn how to sew, and Mary was no different. At age 14, she enrolled in school where she honed her sewing skills and learned how to create garments.

Once her schooling was complete, it was time for Mary to move on and she was off to the United States. It was a big move for an 18 year old, but she made the trip and settled in Middletown, CT where she got her first job at a factory that manufactured clothing. She worked there for several years before an opportunity at Ester, a dress shop also in Middletown, offered her a position. After working at the dress shop for the next three years, Mary felt it was time for a change, and lucky for us she began her career at Best.

Some twenty years later Mary is still sewing away! She is a terrific employee, and her customers love seeing her smiling face and “can do” attitude. She is an asset to our company and we couldn’t be happier to have her as part of our Best family. Thank you, Mary!
