Summer to Fall wardrobe transition, here’s how!

The kids are back in school, evenings are starting to cool down considerably, and the change of season is upon us once again. If you’re a New Englander, this means it’s time to start switching out your wardrobe. We all know this can be a daunting task as we can still have some warmer days to come. Here are some tips that will help make for a smooth transition and save you some money too:

1. Even though it’s time for your white linen to take a rest, don’t put away your darker colored, cotton jersey dresses. Try pairing them with a blazer for a great fall look.

2. Don’t pack away your summer skirts just yet (you know the ones we mean).  Try wearing them with a pair of tights and boots for fall.

3. The same goes for your tank tops. They’re a great layering piece and are less bulky under a cardigan or blazer. Plus, pastels are a hot trend for fall and another reason to keep those tank tops out as they’ll provide a perfect pop of color.

4. One of the best parts of transitioning your closet is decluttering. Remember the cardinal rule, if you haven’t worn it in a year, eliminate it and do it now. There’s no need to wait until spring. You shouldn’t feel guilty about getting rid of what you don’t wear with plenty of options to recycle; take them to your favorite charity, find a consignment store or have a clothing swap with your friends. Just don’t put them back in your closet!
