Raising Awareness, Funds For CT Forests & Parks

Best Cleaners wrapped up its annual, company-wide Earth Day campaign with an $1000 donation to the Connecticut Forest & Park Association (CFPA), the first non-profit conservation organization in the state. The intent of the campaign was to create greater awareness of, as well as support for, CFPA programs and services. Public service advertising ran in various media the week running up to April 22, Earth Day, while informational materials and collection jars were placed at each of Best’s 11 central Connecticut locations. The donation represented a percentage of Best’s Earth Day total sales as well as contributions from individual customers. Best President Shawn McCann commented, “As a community-minded business and green dry cleaner, we love our affiliation with the Connecticut Forest & Park Association. Thanks to their hard work and stewardship, we all have access to some of the most beautiful forests and trails in the country. It seems natural to celebrate Earth Day by celebrating the people who are truly responsible for keeping Connecticut green.”

Connecticut Forest & Park Association, founded in 1895, is a nonprofit organization serving Connecticut to protect forests, parks, walking trails, and open spaces for future generations. CFPA maintains the 825-mile Blue-Blazed Hiking Trail System, trains educators to utilize the outdoors as a teaching tool, and protects significant forests, parks, and trails through public policy advocacy and land conservation. According to CFPA Executive Director Eric Hammerling, “The donation funds will be used to support the most successful Trails Day event in the country, CT Trails Day. Trails Day is an important effort to help connect people to trails and the land, which requires much effort and time to coordinate.” To learn more about their work volunteer opportunities, go to www.ctwoodlands.org.
