Spring is here. Time to clean house!

When temperatures begin to rise and days get longer, it can only mean one thing; Spring is in the air. It’s time to come out of hibernation and get things done. Here are some great tips for cleaning out and organizing your home, your closet, and your clothes.

Purge your closet: We all have them – the clothes hanging deep in your closet that you say you are going to wear, but never do. The general rule is if you haven’t worn it in the past year, get rid of it.

Organize your mudroom and family areas: Spaces used by the entire family can often become cluttered and disorganized. Take this opportunity to organize these spaces by family member, using labels for baskets or bins so everyone has a place to put their things.

Clean out your pantry: You may not realize how many items in your pantry have expired. Go through your canned goods and spices and throw away what’s out of date. It’s also a good time to label your shelves and organize them by food groups.

Touch up time: If you walk around your house, you’re sure to find some chipped paint and overlooked carpet stains. Mark these spots and go back with some touch-up paint and carpet cleaner. It won’t take much time but it’ll make a great impact.

Pile it up: In each room that you clean, create separate piles or bins to “Keep”, “Sell” and “Donate”. This is a great way to get ready for your spring tag sale or donate to your local shelter.

Happy Cleaning!
